Daniel Magallon has ample knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency. He holds a BSc. in Civil Engineering, an MBA from ITESM, Monterrey, Mexico, and a MSc in renewable energy managed by the European Renewable Energy Centre EUREC in cooperation with the University of Zaragoza in Spain and the University of Kassel in Germany. He is currently working on financing mechanisms and risk mitigation instruments, including debt and equity finance of projects, third party financing models, as well as insurance products. His extensive experience includes the coordination of numerous construction projects, accounting, financial analysis and fundraising.
Daniel is part of the coordination team involved in the research activities under UNEP/GEF/IDA/Worldbank Assessment of Financial Risk Management FRM (Instruments for Renewable Energy Projects in developing countries), and he has participated in various international seminars on sustainable energy. At the moment he is developing a SEFI strategy to engage financial institutions in financing sustainable energy projects in Latin America countries and Africa.

When Jamie joined BASE, her task was to establish a platform for public clean energy fund managers in different countries that would enable them to engage across borders with their international peers to exchange best practices and launch joint projects. The end result is an entity called the SEFI Public Finance Alliance, or "SEF Alliance", which is under the remit of the UNEP Sustainable Energy Finance Initiative (SEFI) but is governed by its member funds (see www.sefalliance.org). Jamie now manages the Secretariat function of this platform.
Jamie holds an MSc with Distinction in Development Management from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a BA Summa Cum Laude in International Development and Music from Tulane University in New Orleans. She worked previously for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Nicaragua on environmental impact mitigation after Hurricane Mitch, and in Colombia on local governance and democracy building. She also worked in international trade and small business development for the New Orleans? Mayor?s Office and, immediately prior to joining BASE, for a private investment company in London that finances health infrastructure for the UK government. She has ten years? experience living in developing countries (Kenya, Honduras and Guatemala).
