Financing innovative energy solutions for the municipality of the future
Municipalities play a key role in the implementation of sustainable energy policies. They are both a consumer and producer of energy. They are able to create local funding programmes and they can play a leading role by developing pilot projects. By being energy efficient and using renewable energy sources, a municipality can free up some of its budget, improve the quality of life for its citizens, and strengthen the local economy thorough the creation of new jobs. It is the municipality of the future.
RegioNER aims to support municipalities in the Upper Rhine in financing and implementing sustainable energy projects. Since public money for such projects is on the decline, private capital is becoming increasingly necessary. Through RegioNER, municipalities will learn about new financing models and solutions.
